We Are Up will provide an innovative, integrated, community-based, and long-term place for adults with autism and other disabilities to call home.
Why an integrated community matters.
By building a community of members with and without autism and other disabilities, we help remove unwarranted stigma. By integrating our community we provide training opportunities for college students seeking careers in social work and health care and give seniors a meaningful way to contribute.
We Are Up has secured a 15-acre urban infill site in McKinleyville, CA appraised at $1.2 million. It is within walking distance of a grocery store, healthcare provider, bank, movie theater, gym, hardware store, and bus line. We have commissioned CEQA site studies and architectural renderings for our development and received unanimous support from Planning Commission for our Conditional and Special Use permits July 2023. With the help of our amazing volunteers, we launched our agricultural efforts transplanting and fencing 30 mature apple trees.
