A View of the Orchard

You may remember we tried to pick every single blossom off our trees so the roots could have a year to establish themselves. I’m glad we missed a few so we can see what the future holds. Thanks to so many, more than 3/4 of the trees have a lifetime sponsor. Our friend Arnauld Van Hess from the Netherlands wins the award for most distant supporter. Heather Viña wins for closest and a volunteer from heaven that has no off button. Neighbors helping neighbors is the real theme.

Something Found

While we were getting ready for the meet and greet, cleaning out one of the sheds we found a little four volume series of Audel’s Carpenters and Builders Guide from the 1940’s signed by Jim Weirup (the namesake for We Are Up). The quote by John Ruskin expresses our philosophy of care. Building something to care for our most vulnerable neighbors now and well into the future. We are working on the greenhouse as our first phase.

Save the Date & A Big We Are Up Thank You

We want to thank everyone who came to our first public event! We were overwhelmed by your enthusiasm, support, and especially love getting new ideas from so many of you. We had about 200 people visit the orchard and greenhouse site. We are so enthused we are planning a real party! We will be having a night of dining, dancing, costumes, and fundraising October 28th. Save the date.
